Story

Vaathi/SIR plot The sistory of Vathi/SIR is that of a youngster who protests against the president of a private college and comes out victorious. In the SIR’s alternative tale, though, the teacher challenges the whole educational system and rallies for students’ rights.

And the undeniable fact is that some students find the coaching they get at school to be rigorous. Others, however, are satisfied by watching old videos their father is selling in order to make more money now that his business isn’t successful.

As they watch the videos, the students stumble onto simple math lessons and get curious about the teacher who teaches them. They plan to visit the teacher, and after much effort, they realize that the teacher is not present in their district and find out that the teacher has moved to Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh where it originated years ago.

It’s inspiring how the teacher struggles to give his students a good education, in the face of the people who punish him. His history gives us a lesson that we all should one time stand up against what appear to be, and worn as acceptable practices.

The story also shows a student who is being driven to succeed academically. Some kids perform at their best under pressure, while others just can’t keep up. Story highlights A balanced approach is needed in education, where we are not asked to teach to the middle but to the child.

Review

“Sir,” a movie directed by Venky Atluri, evokes scenes from college life in the 1990s, when private universities and coaching centers were being started in droves to cater to huge demand for engineering and medical courses.

The film reveals that education should be accessible to one and all irrespective of one’s economic background. The message is good but the film can be a little repetitive and tiresome.

This is the story of a boy named Ratna, who serves as a live-in maid in a high rise apartment in Mumbai. He is passionate about fashion design and hopes to have his own boutique one day. But he has to drop out of school and become a houseboy because of his family’s financial plight.

He then encounters Ashwin, a rich man, who employs him. Ratna and Ashwin grows close to each other and they become a friend on common pricking point is art and design.

The film does dip into class distinctions and the difficulties that people from less wealthy backgrounds face in pursuing their dreams. It underscores how education is not a privilege but a basic right, that ought to be available to everyone. The message of the film resonates with the masses, particularly in our contemporary social reality wherein education has just become another commodity only the rich can afford to buy it.

While the film has its flaws, leading man Dhanush is exceptional. The remaining cast members also turn in solid performances and adding layers to the story. Though sometimes the movie gets repetitive that makes it boring for some.

In summary, “Sir” is that film which wants to talk about important education and social inequality issues. It’s a reminder that everyone should have the ability to pursue their dreams, no matter what kind of money is in your pocket. Although the film is occasionally uninspired, for its special message and fine performances by the cast, it’s worthwhile.
