Production, Music and Editing

Nani and Prashanti Tipirneni produced the film on Wall Poster Cinema assuring for an artistic execution. This is one production house who have developed a reputation for backing daring cinema – and it seems COURT will receive no different.

The court scenes resonate to the tunes composed by Vijai Bulganin which not just adds to the drama but the wide range of human emotions. Says Grobow: ”There is a higher purpose to his music, and every piece has a life of its own, whether it’s what he’s written for the intense shootings in that courtroom or for the fights of one man’s heart.”

The film’s editor R. Karthika Srinivas does a commendable job in keeping the story smoothly flowing without losing some of the bits. With this kind of genre, killing is only half of the plot, so a tight edit is key to building tension, and early word of mouth indicate this is just what COURT manages to do.

Cinematography and Direction

One of the most important and often overlooked aspects of any courtroom drama is the dramatic tension that is generated inside the four corners of the courtroom. The raw, real vibe that a film can convey, thanks to the kind of lighting and framing it opts for key scenes is the best asset of Dinesh Purushothaman’s cinematography.

Each and every debate, conflict or interpretation is de facto (ad domino) captured based solely on the environment created by him.

Director Ram Jagadeesh managed to bring out an engaging commentary on legal drama through the story. Jagadeesh adds width to the plot with the broad strokes of his details. Because it doesn’t let its audience off the hook until the very final second of the movie.

Characters and Performances

Priyadarshi who is known for his versatility, excels as always. Both his role as a beleaguered man caught in a web of impossibly confusing laws in particular are quite moving.

The film has excellent performances from Harsh Allan and Sri Devi. Their characters inject more layers into the courtroom combats and that’s what makes film more fun.

Veterans like Sivaji, Sai Kumar, Rohini, Harshavardhan breathe life into every argument, every emotion outburst and every narration. But, the script especially is not the only thing this film leans on and competent performances puts a wind of refreshment to it’s sails.

What Makes This Movie Unique

COURT – State vs A Nobody tells the tale of the ugly human side of the case and the ways in which the legal system takes a toll on both a family and a society.

But that is indeed the plot in this movie. In addition to having an interesting premise, the film is also pretty damned sharp with its dialogue and good ol’ gratuitous bloodshed. The drama of the film and the reality of its portrayal are in perfect balance so that that goes far beyond the mere curiosity value.
