Plot
The story of The Newsense Web Series Season 1 is based on stringers who are working in the Madanapalle press club in 2000. These stringers are corrupt bastards who take bribes from politicians. Their model entails either lying or willfully withholding critical elements of their stories.
One of these stringers is the lead character Shiva (Navdeep). He wants to make money at any cost even if it damages others. Shiva falls in love with Neela (Bindu Madhavi), the reporter of the local news channel.
Things appear smooth for Shiva, but the drama begins when the newly appointed Sub-Inspector (SI) of Madanapalle, Edwin (Nanda Gopal), gives the stringers a hard time. The actions that follow become the main story of the first season.
Review
Newsense Web Series in its own is based on a good concept which is appealing to its own genre. The people behind this film have shown a great deal of guts in bringing a subject that is so sensitive and incredibly important to the public’s conscious.
The Newsense web series resonates with many such beautifully-built scenes, which shed light on the seamier side of the media world. These are thought provoking sequences which will appear as both stunning and ominous to onlookers as they observe the reality of truth and the abuse of the media by politicians to cover their behinds.
Navdeep’s characterisation in the show is fantabulous and definitely it is highly delightful that such an eminent artiste is playing a commanding character. Playing a character that’s far from being perfect is no easy task, but Navdeep shines every bit of it on screen and has proved that with a taut performance that just beams with maturity and finesse in each and every scene.
Considering her less screen space, she makes a good impression with the kind of performance she gave through her character. When ever she is in a scene, she is unforgettable and adds to the story with style.
The addition of Nanda Gopal playing Edwin adds another level of mystery to the tale. In the first season, he may have a small role, but he was powerful and we can’t wait to see more of him.
The sarcasm drenched performance by Nanda Gopal makes the audience hang on to his every word and action.
The ensemble as a whole should also get credit. They’re not necessarily the stars, but they play their part extremely well and flesh out the bigger picture of the series.
