Sam Bahadur is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language biographical war film directed by Meghna Gulzar, and is set to release on 1 December 2023. Story
Sam Bahadur narrates an extraordinary tale of bravery, and fierce intelligence and justice. All through the remarkable life of Sam Manekshaw, the man who was India’s 40 saviour in the Indo-Pak war of 1971, for which he is known to date as the 40man who won India its greatest military victory ever!
U/A certification has been awarded by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the film will have a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
It narrates the life of Sam Manekshaw in an extraordinary way, by taking audience through some of the most historic events that sowed the seeds of the Indian military, with great storytelling, a fabulous cast, and some really good work from the crew.
Direction
Meghna Gulzar strikes gold with yet another hard-hitting after Raazi, establishing that she’s a pro at creating complex characters and emotional plots. In Sam Bahadur, she creates a respectful but entertaining portrait of a national icon, which balances his personal life and military career.
Meghna offsets the high drama of war scenes with heartfelt moments that bring out the various shades of Sam. The film never plays like a history lesson — instead, it’s alive and flowing, an engrossing and inspiring drama.

The film’s music by Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, and Loy Mendonsa aka Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy give a soul to the film with their heart-wrenching compositions themselves. Their background score gels seamlessly with the film’s emotional highs and battlefield frenzy.
