Plot

The film Transformers One is set on Cybertron, the planet of the Transformers which is a technologically advanced world of robot life.

This film, unlike all its predecessors, which are based on the hatred-filled conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons that exists in planet Earth, is a pure account of the planet of Cybertron, which looks into the why and hows of their ancient world, how it functions and what life is truly like there.

Settings in the movie are in the early times in Cybertron when the Autobot and Decepticon forces have not been formed. There lies under Transformers One a complicated love affair between Optimus Prime and Megatron.

The film dwells upon their first meetings and displays the intricate friendship turned rivalry that doomed them to be the reason of starting the civil war on Cybertron.

It is like a peek into their past since it offers fans a fresh perspective into the popular heroes, and they get to see how the characters will be in a new environment prior to their rise as the legendary heroes that we now know them to be.

Optimus Prime Like most Autobots, until he took the leadership of his kind, Optimus can be portrayed as a person who still has much to learn where to go and how to fit in the society he lives in Cybertronian.

In contrast, Megatron is brought out in detail and the reasons as well as ideologies which drive him are brought to light.

Voice Cast

The voice cast of Transformers One is a who is who that comprises Chris Hemsworth voicing Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne and Jon Hamm.

It looks like both of them have their own personal interpretations on these characters rendering these iconic characters a lifeline. There has always been a question on the casting because now we are getting a younger version of these characters so the voice actors must be able to somehow act during a different period of their life.

Direction of Transformers One

The franchise took a daring creative turn with “Transformers One” made by the film-maker of the movie Toy Story 4, Josh Cooley.

And though the film makers wanted to tell the film that would be enjoyed by the hardcore fans of the series, and it was also wanted to tell the film that would serve as the superhero movie that addressed those crucial issues that were present in the real world.

Via examination of the origin and initial association of Optimus Prime and Megatron, the authors wanted to stress the issues of leadership, power, and consequences of opposed ideologies.

Screenplay

A script by Pearson and writing team Barrer and Ferrari, lays the script against the political and social Cybertron background.

This is an opening to enter into the more untidier anatomies of power and of how people turn, when confronted with social chellenges.

It is not only a black-and-white story, it is the one full of clear gray zone in the fight over Cybertron.

Animation and Style of Visuals

Travis Knight directs the film which is based in the 1980s, and is an attempt by the franchise a return into the big-screen theatrical animation world as well as being the first one after 1986, the lost Transformers: The Movie.

The movie takes the appearance of the traditional Transformers but incorporated some new modifications in an attempt to make it interesting to the new generation.

The animators draw focus on glossy, off the hook special skills shows of the transformers. A joint use of old and new images supports new comers and the veterans on the path.

The newest of advanced animation technologies are implemented in the movie, as well, so as to immerse you in the world of visual spectacle that has never got such imagination. The people doing the animation worked insanely hard on coming up with a Cybertron that is neither-futuristic nor a lived-in place but somewhere in between (and getting heavily influenced by the tone of the classic Transformers).

Review

Transformers One also provides a new perspective to the Transformers mythos as it is a narrative that could be described as both an origin story, and a character study. It covers the childhood of Optimus Prime and Megatron in order to describe the roots of the process of the development of the role of primary leaders of opposing groups.

The twist that will be applied to the lore will provide us with an opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of such archetypical characters.

And this practice is also what makes the Transformers universe available to an even greater audience. By exploring the history of Cybertron and its inhabitants, the movie enables the casuals to get a grip on the lore, which is so overwhelming to the non-initiated franchise people.
